The New South Wales Office for Trade Development and the NSW Government Trade Development Board appear to have been established in 1987, to replace the Overseas Trade Authority. The Board was under the administration of the Minister for Industry and Small Business. (1)The main function of the Board was to advise the Minister for Industry and Small Business on “matters associated with fostering, encouraging, and co-ordinating trade between NSW and other places, and to monitor and report to the Minister on the activities of the Office of Trade Development’. (2)
The Chairman of the Board in 1987 was P J Valkenburg. (3)
In 1988 the Board was abolished, and its functions were transferred to the Office for Trade Development, under the administration of the Minister for State Development. (4)
