Full description

Phillip House Court of Petty Sessions was established on 12 January 1959 within the Central Petty Sessions District. The new court received the records from, and undertook the outstanding business of four separate Courts of Petty Sessions that had been conducted in the Commonwealth Bank Chambers at 108-120 Pitt Street Sydney. These had operated from:

the Board Room on the fifth floor; the room adjoining the Associate to the Judge on the seventh floor; the Office of the Deputy Registrar in Bankruptcy on the Seventh Floor; and the Court of the Registrar of Bankruptcy, 7th Floor. (1)

During the period from 18 November 1963 to 8 May 1981 two Courts of Petty Sessions were conducted simultaneously in Phillip Street - Phillip House and Selborne Chambers. (2)

From 1 January 1972 the Court of Petty Sessions at 119 Phillip Street, Sydney became part of the Eastern Metropolitan Petty Sessions District. (3)

Phillip House Court of Petty Sessions, within the Eastern Metropolitan Petty Sessions District, was abolished on 8 May 1981. (4)
