AGY-389 | Dubbo Police Station

NSW State Archives Collection
Viewed: [[ro.stat.viewed]]

Full description

Initially, local police were based in Wellington, which proved to be very impractical given distance and the lack of communication during the early settlement.  An announcement in the Government Gazette of 22 December  1846 proclaimed Dubbo as a place where Courts of Petty Sessions should be held.  In 1847 a site for a courthouse and lock-up was selected, and the buildings were erected later that year. In 2008 the Dubbo Police Station was located in the Orana Local Area Command within the Western Region and was the Local Area Command Office. In 2008 its address was 143 Brisbane Street, Dubbo. (2)
