Full description
The Public School at Devonshire Street in the County of Cumberland opened in January 1874. In October 1880 the school was converted to an infants school and it continued in this status. It was re-named Riley Street Infants School in 1883. The Parents' and Citizens' Association sternly resisted closure of the school which was announced in 1987, however their campaign was unsuccessful and the school was closed at the end of 1989.Reference:
