The Parliamentary Draftsman was responsible for drawing up proposed legislation, revising all classes of delegated legislation - rules, regulations, and by-laws, - and advising the Attorney General on the legality of delegated legislation. The Parliamentary Draftsman was also responsible for the incorporation into all Acts of Parliament of subsequent legislative change through amendments. In December 1970 the Parliamentary Draftsman was retitled as the Parliamentary Counsel. On 1 July 1991 the Parliamentary Counsel was transferred from the Attorney General's Department to the Premiers Department with its status changing from sub-department to one as a separate Administrative Office.User Contributed Tags
