Full description Our primary objective is to examine the prevalence of a Desire for Hastened Death (DHD) and its association with psycho-existential distress as measured on the Psycho-existential Symptom Assessment Scale in patients with an advanced illness and an estimated prognosis of ≤12 months Secondary 1. To explore the correlations of the DHD with sociodemographic and disease-related factors, distressing physical symptoms, levels of dependency and quality of life. 2. To examine the mediators of this development of a desire to hasten death (DHD).
