A multi omics approach to combine yield and quality in rice

Research Project

Full description This is part of a PhD research entitled "Empowering breeding programs with new approaches to overcome constraints for selecting superior quality traits of rice". In this study, a mapping population derived from Apo and IR64 was grown, with the parents, under irrigated and water-constrained conditions. Using a dense linkage map based on genotyping by sequencing data, quantitative trait loci for drought stress was identified. Similarly, compounds influencing rice aroma were identified. Sensory analysis was also performed to identify aroma traits that can be described by the volatile compounds.
