GENERAL
The radiometric, or gamma-ray spectrometric, method measures the natural variations in the gamma-rays originating from the Earth's surface as the result of the natural radioactive decay of potassium (K), uranium (U) and thorium (Th). Radiometric data has many uses including geological mapping, mineral exploration, and environmental studies.

RAW-EDITED DATA
The raw-edited point-located data is the rawest form of the data and includes the 256-channel gamma-ray spectra, raw window counts, raw altimeter heights, and ellipsoidal GNSS heights.

This 5028 Block3 (Northwest) raw-edited radiometric point-located data were acquired in 2024 by the WA Government, and consisted of 415090 line-kilometres of data at 100m line spacing and 50m terrain clearance.

Lineage

Maintenance and Update Frequency: asNeeded
Statement: This 5028 Block3 (Northwest) raw-edited radiometric point-located data is an airborne-derived radiometric data for the Narryer. The data was acquired under the project No. 5028 for the geological survey of WA. A total of 415090 line-kilometres of data at a line spacing of 100m were acquired during this survey. Noise-adjusted singular value decomposition (NASVD) has been applied to the data. NASVD is a spectral component analysis procedure for the removal of noise from gamma-ray spectra. Details of the specifications of individual airborne surveys can be found in the Fourteenth Edition of the Index of Airborne Geophysical Surveys (Percival, 2014). This Index is also available online at http://pid.geoscience.gov.au/dataset/79134. Reference: Percival, P.J., 2014. Index of airborne geophysical surveys (Fourteenth Edition).

Notes

Purpose
Magnetic and radiometric data are types of geophysical information primarily used to map geology. The data will have applications in mineral, energy, and groundwater exploration as well as environmental studies.
