Full description
This is a collection of the original, signed, witnessed and stamped indentures, and the assignments from the ship's masters to the governor, for the Gorgon 1791, Royal Admiral 1792, Kitty 1792, Bellona 1793, William 1793, Surprize 1794, and Indispensible 1796.
This volume also includes:
1. Certificates from the sheriff or the clerk of the high court of judiciary for the transportation of Scottish prisoners who came by the Pitt and other ships prior to the arrival of the Surprize; and lists of Scottish convicts sent to Edinburgh to be transported.
2. Copies of the certificates for the Scottish prisoners by the Surprize amongst them four of the five "martyrs", Rev. Thomas Fyshe Palmer, Maurice Margarot, William Skirving, and Thomas Muir. (1)
