The score for Wormwood is inspired by worm tracings in the bark of a tree, photographed in Tasmania in September 2022. It features coloured shapes which represent different overtone pitch sets within an animated graphic score. These are generated in real-time to create a dynamic, interactive performance environment.

I worked with programmer Ciaran Frame to create a custom MAX patch that would animate the shapes across the screen at varying speeds and in shifting combinations, creating an action notation with a focus on the physicality and fluid, gestural quality of the bowed overtone techniques.
