Brief description
The World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) was a part of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) which used resources from nearly 30 countries to make unprecedented in-situ and satellite observations of the global ocean between 1990 and 1998 and to observe poorly-understood but important physical processes. This dataset provides high and low density upper ocean temperature and salinity data. The high density sections were profiled 12-16 times per day and one section each season, and included sections in the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans. The low density network sampled at 4 profiles per day with one section each month to provide wide spatial coverage. Upper ocean thermal data was collected by Voluntary Observing Ships (VOS) mainly using Expendable Bathythermographs (XBTs) but also Conductivity, Temperature, and Depth (CTD) sensors, bottle casts, and profiling floats.Data time period: 19 04 2011 to 19 04 2011
