NOTE: The planimetric accuracy stated herein is relative to the existing GIS, coastline and penguin colony data - not 'absolute planimetric accuracy'. That is, it was assumed that the coastline and penguin colony data existing in the GIS is without error. Also, errors accumulated in the creation of the digitised penguin colonies (.DXF files) have not been considered here. The stated accuracy is an estimate - was not derived by statistical means. The location of the colonies may be considered accurate to approximately (+/-20m). Exceptions include: -'Holl Island Map 2' is mostly (+/-20m). Full description

Aerial photography (Linhof) of penguin colonies was acquired over the Windmill Islands (Eric Woehler).
The penguin colonies were traced, then digitised (John Cox), and saved as DXF-files.
Using the ArcView extension 'Register and Transform' (Tom Velthuis), The DXF-files were brought into a GIS and transformed to the appropriate islands. Data conforms to SCAR Feature Catalogue which can be searched (refer to link below).
