Data from field notes were entered as points through on-screen digitising within ArcInfo (ArcEdit). The dataset 'Windmill Islands 1:50 000 Topographic Dataset' was used as a background to the digitising. This task was completed with the help of the relevant research scientist. All points were checked visually to ensure they are correctly located and labelled. Data points represent the centre of regions that represent occurrences of vegetation. These regions range in size from tens to hundreds of metres (described under the item 'Extent of Region' in the attribute table).
