The importance of these sites derives from the fact that a chronology of penguin occupation can be established by radiocarbon dating and this in turn provides a minimum age for deglaciation of the Windmill Islands.\n\nThese data were compiled by Dr Ian D Goodwin from his own field notes and from the records of other workers.
