William Percy Ash was born 19 September 1915. He was educated at Knox Grammar School, St. Andrew's College, and Sydney University where he attained a B.A. and LLB. He was admitted to the Bar on 24 May 1940. Ash joined the AIF and was a member of the 2-13th Australian Infantry Battalion from 1940 until 1945, serving in the Middle East and Papua New Guinea. He practiced law from 1946 - 1975 and was made a Queens Counsel in 1960. He was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in February 1975. For the period of one year from 1978 - 1979, Ash was a Judge of the Land and Valuation Court of New South Wales (1). He retired on 1 October 1982. William Percy Ash died 10 January 1983 (2).
