Brief description What triggers active galactic nuclei? Active galactic nuclei are powerful celestial objects powered by the in-fall of matter towards black holes. While all large galaxies harbour black holes, only some host powerful active galactic nuclei. The project team, including Australian PhD students, will use large astronomical surveys to determine what triggers active galactic nuclei.
