Full description
Wasin Chaivaranont is a PhD student with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science, based at UNSW.
He is currently focusing on the topic of estimating wildfire fuel load from remotely sensed data. In particular, he aims to enhance the accuracy of the current estimated fuel load spatial distribution by utilising the new microwave based vegetation indices recently available, in combination with other visible and near infrared remote sensing.
Prior to joining CCRC, Wasin completed his MSc in Computing Science at Imperial College London and his BE in Civil Engineering at UNSW. After he graduated from Imperial College London, he worked as a programmer analyst at IBM Solutions Delivery, Thailand for almost a year, before returning to UNSW to pursue his research career in Climate Science.
