Brief description

War Service Homes (South Australia)

Full description

Following World War Two, through the War Service Homes Division of the Department of Works and Housing, returned servicemen were able to apply for government assistance to finance approved plans and specifications for houses. These were usually conventional in style and either designed by the War Service Homes Division or by private architects. War Service Homes were built in large numbers in suburbs such as Plympton, Blair Athol and Glenelg North, South Australia.
