Brief description
Lunar-monthly manual sampling of water temperature and salinity at the Panulirus cygnus puerulus collector sites. The earliest sites started in 1969 and others have started/ended over the years. As of 2008, 10 sites are operational.Lineage
Maintenance and Update Frequency: monthly
Statement: Water temperature is taken manually (thermometer in a bucket) at the first and last collectors at each site at the time of the monthly puerulus collection. The thermometers were not calibrated prior to 2007; present estimated accuracy +/- 0.2 degrees Celsius A salinity sample is taken in a glass bottle at the first collector and the conductivity is measured with a conductivity/salinity meter back in the chemistry lab. (Accuracy uncertain). Prior to about 1990, 2 salinity samples were taken.
