These photographs were donated to the National Centre of Australian Children's Literature Inc by Walter McVitty as an accompaniment to his files on Australian authors and illustrators. (These files are the Walter McVitty Research Collection, also held in the Centre). Walter McVitty used the photographs in his works about Australian children’s authors and illustrators.

This collection has been arranged, housed and described by student Jessica Hildyard as part of the subject Management of Archives, under the supervision of Professor Belle Alderman.
