This series comprises annual reports and statement of accounts of the Melbourne Electric Supply Company (MES Co) from 1900 to 1937. Under the Companies Act 1900 (No 1669) and subsequent legislation, companies were required to submit a statement of accounts and an annual report, usually on the 30th of June of each year. Each registered company was also required to hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) of shareholders and to record the proceedings of this meeting. The Melbourne Electric Supply Company was registered in London in 1900 (as the Electric Light and Traction Company) and went into liquidation in 1937. This series also includes the Annual reports for the A.U Alcock Electric Light and Motive Power Company which was taken over by MES Co in 1900/1.
