VPRS 9863 Minute Book (Board of Advice No.81 1894-1910; Trentham School Committee 1911-1958)

This series comprises a single volume which contains the minutes of meetings held by Board of Advice No. 81 and the Trentham School Committee. Board of Advice No. 81 pertained to an area which included the Trentham (No.1588), Garlicks (No.1287), East Trentham (No.923), Union Steam Saw Mills (No.1010) and Fern Hill Railway Station (No.1671) primary schools. This Board like all others was abolished by the Education Act of 1910 and replaced by School Committees established within each individual school. From 1911, the volume was used to record the minutes of meetings of the School Committee for the Trentham school.

Matters discussed relate to the duties of the Board as set out in Section 15 the Education Act 1872. These included responsibility for determining and reporting on the use of school buildings on non school days/hours, the condition of the school buildings and premises, school requirements and attendance of local children at the schools.

The existence of minutes prior to 1894 or Trentham school committee minutes post 1958 is unknown.
