Full description


Willis Connolly, a university qualified electrical engineer, commenced work with the SEC in 1921 as a switchboard attendant. From 1922 onwards he held engineering and managerial positions. He was appointed Assistant General Manager of the Commission in 1951, a post he held until 1956 when he was appointed Chairman and General Manager of the Commission. Sir Willis retired in 1971.

This series contains some correspondence files and papers associated with Sir Willis H. Connolly.

The records include papers associated with the occasion of his retirement (valedictory dinners and so on), notes for many speeches that he made at State Electricity Commission (SEC) functions and other functions such as professional meetings, speech days and graduation ceremonies.
