VPRS 8798 Capital Expenditure Works Files: Teachers Colleges

Full description

This series consists of capital expenditure works files relating to the construction, alteration and extension of Teachers colleges.

The files usually contain the original paper setting out the case for the new building or for additions; the Education Department's requisition for works; the Public Works Department's approvals; maps; plans; the Minister's approval for expenditure; and correspondence concerning the proposal, the letting of the contract and progress made.

The contents date range is 1949 to 1977. The pre 1956 correspondence relating to capital expenditure works which should have been filed on the relevant building file (located in VPRS 3853) has been attached to files in this series. The post 1975 papers relate to correspondence exchanged with the State College of Victoria (VA 437) about the relevant college.
