This series consists of the official minutes of the National Schools Board. Details given include the details of the date of the meeting and the members present. Matters dealt with by the Board and decided upon included school formation and establishment, the appointment of teachers and Local Patrons, inspection of schools, the development and administration of Model Schools and training programs for teachers and finance for schools and for the operations of the Board.

Where business arose from correspondence received, correspondence reference numbers are given. The correspondence may be seen in VPRS 880 Inwards Registered Correspondence with any responses ordered by the Board being in VPRS 878 Outwards Registered Correspondence.

The extent of business often meant that meetings were adjourned.
