VPRS 7664 Unregistered Maps and Plans

Full description

This series consists of maps and plans which were collected and maintained by the Legislative Assembly of the Victorian Parliament. The plans cover many different areas. It would appear that the series includes plans tabled in the Assembly, plans presented to the Assembly but not ordered to be tabled and other items received by Parliament. (It may be that some of the items were received by the Legislative Council). This cannot be confirmed as these maps and plans have not been registered. (That is, no system of numbering or control has been imposed on individual items.)

A number of what are understood to be duplicate copies of some items (otherwise known as replicas) have been processed within the P1 consignment of this series. These are identified in the consignment details for this consignment.

As of January 1997, it is understood that the contents of the series in custody represents all of such plans known to exist within the Parliament House building. The records in the P2 consignment represent those plans identified by Parliament House staff in 1996 and transferred during 1997. The P3 consignment comprises two large maps which were not able to be transferred until 1999 due to storage constraints imposed by their size.
