The series records details of payments made by the Shire of McIvor as well as insurance payments made to ratepayers from the Commission for war damage. (In this instance war damage probably refers to damage sustained within the Shire due to the activities of the armed forces during training exercises or transport.) Under the Commonwealth National Security (War Damage to Property) Regulations during World War II, municipalities were required to contribute sums to the War Damage Commission. This sum was raised through the imposition of a levy based on property valuations.
