The Regulations for Granting Certificates to Mining Engine Drivers and Boiler Attendants and Factory Engine Drivers, are pasted in at the back of the book. According to an annotation inside the front cover, this particular volume was provided by the Secretary to the Board of Examiners of for Engine Drivers for use as an exhibit in a case held before the Broken Hill Police Court on 9 October 1917. This series was originally identified and documented by a service provider. This volume is a government publication listing the certified holders of certificates of competency as Boiler Attendants and first and second class certificates of competency for Engine Drivers issued by the Board of Examiners under the Factories and Shop Act 1890. The publication also lists the holders of First and Second Class Certificates of Service issued by the board of Examiners for Mining Engine Drivers under the Regulation of Mines and Mining Machinery Act 1883.

The entries for certificate holders are arranged in a column format. The columns detail: Name of certificate holder; Birth place; Date of birth; Number and Date of the Certificate.
