Full description
The series consists of the volumes containing the minutes of meetings conducted by the Board of Examiners for Engine Drivers. It is assumed that minute books were created for the life of this agency but not every one appears to have survived. These minute books record the usual meeting details such as the date and location of the meeting, those in attendance, etc. The majority of detail recorded in each meeting are listings of the engine drivers signifying who passed the Board's the examination, the level of competency attained and the approval date. The listings also record the names of applicants who failed the examination. Each dated entry pertains to a location with the listings seemingly certified by the signatures of two members of the Board and its Secretary.
This series was originally identified, titled and documented by a service provider. An evaluation of the supplied documentation in 2025 resulted in the amendment of the series title from 'Minute Books and Related Correspondence of the Examiners of Engine Drivers'. The 'related correspondence' was a single file created by the Mines Department relating to the Department's management of Board membership. (In other words, it was not a file created by the Board itself.) Accordingly, the file was removed from this series and added to the relevant department correspondence filing system, VPRS 7145. The series was also originally transferred in two consignments but the P2 consignment consisting of a volume within a box was cancelled and the volume added to the P1 consignment.
