This act made provisions for licenses to be issued for many activities under a number of sections where the approval for the license was made under the Act by the Secretary for Mines rather than a Court of Petty Sessions.  The series consists of two sequences of cards arranged in an alphabetical order by the surname of the licence holder. The first sequence relates to licenses to buy wrought iron gold under sections 42 & 43 of the act. The other sequence document licenses issued under other sections of the same act, including sections 8, 15, 21, 22, 23, 24, 35, 36 and 50. It appears cards for licenses to buy wrought iron gold were greater in number than for the remaining sections and thus were maintained in a separate sequence.  There are no differences in the cards within either sequence with a space included on each card for the inclusion of the section under which the license was issued. Each card records the name of licence holder, place of business, licence type, district available in, date of issue and date of expiry. It appears cards were created for each licence holder up to 1951 but details were added to existing cards until 1976. This series was originally identified, titled and documented by a service provider. An evaluation of the supplied documentation established that cards originally transferred as VPRS 6940/P1 was part of this series. Accordingly, VPRS 6940/P1 was cancelled and its contents were added to this series. The original titled for this series ('Index to Licenses to Buy Wrought Gold') was also amended and this series description was added.  &rft.creator=Mines Department (also known as Department of Mines and Mining Department) &rft.date=2026&rft.coverage=141.000000,-34.000000 142.919336,-34.145604 144.582129,-35.659230 147.742627,-35.873175 150.024219,-37.529041 150.200000,-39.200000 141.000000,-39.200000 141.000000,-34.000000 141.000000,-34.000000&rft_subject=HISTORICAL STUDIES&rft_subject=HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY&rft.type=dataset&rft.language=English Access the data
