VPRS 6778 Minute Books, Miners Accident Relief Fund, Wonthaggi

Full description

The inside cover of the first volume reads 'Wonthaggi Miners Relief Fund. Minute Book', which presumably applies solely to staff working at the State Coal Mine. These minute books do not contain any matters for discussion, just the date of each meeting, the individuals who attended the meeting and a listing of the workers for whom applications for relief were accepted and the amount. Finally, a summary of the funds dispersed at each meeting ends with an amount for a sum 'Remitted to the Board'.  Entries were made in chronological order by the date of the meeting.      

It appears this series ended with the closure of the State Coal Mine in 1968.

This series was originally identified and documented by a service provider. The supplied documentation was evaluated in 2025 and as a result the original series title was amended. The originally title given was  Minute Books of the Miners Accident Relief Board was inaccurate because the minutes of the board itself are held within VPRS 7386.
