Full description

Under the provisions of the Commonwealth War Pensions Act 1914 1915 application could be made for pensions to be paid to incapacitated members of the armed forces and their dependants or to the dependants of deceased members of the armed forces of the Commonwealth. Clerks of Petty Sessions in non-metropolitan areas were appointed by the Governor-General as Registrars of Pensions for the purpose of receiving applications and forwarding them to the Deputy Commissioner of Pensions.

This series contains the records of applications to the Clerk of Petty Sessions at Tarnagulla. Information recorded was the date of the receipt of the claim, the name and the address of the claimant, the given names of each person for whom the pension was claimed, the date upon which the papers were forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner and any remarks.
