Full description

Until proclamation of the Industrial Relations Act 1979 (No.9365) in 1981 the Governor-in-Council was empowered under the Labour and Industry Act 1958 and previous legislation to appoint Wages Boards, vary the membership of the Boards, determine the area of Victoria within which their determinations would be operative, extend or deprive their powers or abolish them. From 1981 the Industrial Relations Commission assumed responsibility for appointing, abolishing and varying the membership and powers of Conciliation and Arbitration Boards (which superseded the Wages Boards).

This series primarily comprises files relating to the appointment, abolition, powers and membership of Wages Boards to 1981. There is on file in the P0 consignment from 1983.
