Each printed page in this series is titled Register relating to Elections: it records the performance of various procedures required before the nomination or election of a Member of the Legislative Council.The clerk filled in each column with the relevant information (usually the date the action was performed). The columns are headed:
* Name of province
* Notice to Chief Secretary
* Inquiry as to polling places
* Reply from Chief Secretary
* Date of Issue of Writ
* Name of Returning Officer
* Name of Candidate
* Date of Receipt of Quality of Candidate
* Day before which Nomination is made
* Date of return by Nomination or Polling
* Date of Return of Writ
* Date of Receipt of Ballot Papers
* No of Parcels Received
* Acknowledging receipt of Ballot Papers
* Remarks.
For some provinces, an entry was made in every column. For others, only certain columns were completed.
