Full description

This series consists of a controlling register to VPRS 30 Criminal Trial Briefs. The registers were used to allocate a file number to each case. 

These registers controlled the criminal trial briefs for the period 1892 - 1961. This is the subsequent series to VPRS 3523, which covers the period up to 1891.

The registers are self-indexing. They contain an alphabetical index at the front, in which the name of the prisoner can be found. The index records on which page number in the register their entry is located. 

Entries in each register record the following:
  • Case number
  • Prisoner's name
  • Date of trial
  • Offence(s)
  • Verdict
  • Sentence. 
The ‘Prisoner's Number’ column is not used.

In 1962, this register was replaced by VPRS 8086 Card Register to Criminal Trial Briefs.
