Full description
Origin of this seriesThe original transfer of this series contained a variety of court records attributed to Nagambie Courts. In 1993 additional records of Nagambie Courts were transferred into archival custody. At that time some records were removed from the original transfer and placed into new series. Any records left over after that process occurred were re-listed and reprocessed into the P000 consignment of this series. For details of the records in this series refer to the records description lists.
Contents of "mixed" series of court records
"Mixed" series contain records which were left over after the reprocessing which occurred in 1993. These records will generally be records that would not normally be transferred as permanent records such as administrative and financial records or summary records such as magistrates' note books. The records generally relate to the various jurisdictions of the Court of Petty Sessions/Magistrates' Court but may relate to other courts such as the County Court, licensing courts and Court of Mines. Some "mixed" series may contain registers of court proceedings that would be considered permanent.
The contents of "mixed" series will vary but may include:
* cash books such as suitors cash book, poor box cash book and receivers cash books;
* magistrates' or judges' note books;
* registers and books which were required to be created but which were not a certified record of court proceedings;
* letter books;
* mail or postage books;
* papers associated with court proceedings such as warrants and summonses; and
