Full description

The Sheriff of the Supreme Court is responsible for the enforcement and execution of Supreme Court Writs and Orders and the control and direction of civil warrants. Bailiffs from the Sheriff's Office executed writs in Melbourne and in the major court districts. In country Victoria, including remote areas the senior police constable was the official bailiff and was charged to execute writs.

This series contains the details of the serving and return of writs, mainly of fieri facias (fi. fa) Details given are the number, the date received by the Sheriff, the nature of the writ, the date of the writ, the names of the attorney, the plaintiff and defendant, the amount of the writ and details related to its return.
