A Warrant of Attorney gives written authority to an attorney to enter an appearance in an action and allow judgment to be entered for the plaintiff or to suffer judgment to go to default. A writ of Cognivit is an acknowledgment by the defendant, in order to save expense, that the plaintiffs cause is a just one and acknowledges that the plaintiff is entitled to recover a given amount from the defendant in the action. The defendant gives an undertaking to take no action against the plaintiff in the matter.This series contains Warrants of Attorney and Writs of Cognivit presented in the Supreme Court.
