Full description

This series comprises an accumulation of copies of records and published material of the National War Memorial Committee (VA 3999) and its successor, the Shrine of Remembrance Trustees (VA 1577). The original records are held at the Melbourne City Council as at 1996.

The records include copies of the minutes of both of the bodies as well as copies of various documents and published material.

The National War Memorial Committee was effectively a Committee of the Melbourne City Council (VA 511). The Shrine of Remembrance Trustees were established as a corporate body. Secretarial and administrative support to the Trustees was provided by the Melbourne City Council. For this reason the records were attributed to the Council when the List of Holdings was first published.
