VPRS 2400 General Correspondence Files

Full description

This series consists of correspondence files of the Central Registry Branch of the Office of the Chief Commissioner of Police (VA 724). Correspondence relates to the general administrative activities of the Victorian Police Force. This series appears to be the successor correspondence system to VPRS 807 Inward Correspondence Files.
It would appear the first consignment of VPRS 2400 (i.e. P000) was missing 324 boxes when initially transferred to PROV. The P1 consignment of 324 boxes appears to fill this gap.

Prior to the transfer of the P4 to P6 consignments the series consignments 1 to 3 were classified as review consignments. This was due to confusion between VPRS 807 and VPRS 2400 which had not been resolved. All consignments have now been reclassified as Permanent.

The P8 consignment was originally registered as Units 1153 to 2569 of VPRS 807.

The P11 and P12 consignments comprises of predominantly ethical standards complaints files.
