Full description

This series was created to record details of the death of animals at the Zoological Gardens in Melbourne. This includes animals that died in captivity, during birth in captivity or during capture. Details of animals sold or donated were also included.

Information is recorded in columns across a folio and includes, date, quantity/stock (e.g 2 finches) and remarks (rarely used). A column headed Latin Name was only used in the volume spanning the period 1898 - 1931. A cause of death column was also completed infrequently.

The existence of other volumes from this series is unknown.
