Full description

This series was created to record details of animals received at the Zoological Gardens in Melbourne. This includes animals that were purchased, donated or born in captivity.

Information is recorded in columns across a folio and includes, date, quantity/stock received (e.g 3 wallaroos) and remarks. The remarks field was usually used how the animals were received and, if relevant or known, from whom and or from where. A column headed Latin Name was not used for this purpose and occasionally includes other remarks.

The existence of other volumes from this series is unknown.
