This series comprises forms that detail the personal and enrolment information of students enrolled at Warracknabeal Primary School (School No. 1334) (VA 4635).Over time, schools used a variety of forms to record this information, including titles such as ‘Enrolment Forms,’ ‘Confidential Student Information Forms,’ ‘Student Enrolment Forms,’ and ‘Information Forms for Enrolment.’ These forms were not standardised by the Education Department (VA 714) or its successors, leading to slight variations between schools, although they generally collected similar types of information and performed the same function.
The information captured in the forms includes student name, address, gender, date of birth, family details, demographic background and medical information such as allergies of the student at time of enrolment.
From the 1980s, schools began transitioning to the Computerised Administrative System Environment in Schools (CASES) database, a centralised digital enrolment system maintained by the Education Department (VA 714) or its successors. Initially not widely used, the then Department of Education (VA 3098) introduced an updated CASES21, which became the mandatory system of record for financial information and reporting for all Victorian government schools from 2006. While CASES21 was also used for student and school administration processes, schools were permitted to utilise other third-party software to meet their needs in conjunction with the system. This system provided the means through which digital records capturing similar information could be created.
This series may include reports generated from the CASES (or CASES21) database, on a certain date by the school. The lists follow a standardised format and appear to be a printed report from a digital database, likely CASES or similar. The printed report has been kept where the original born digital record is unlikely to exist or is no longer accessible.
