This series comprises volumes and files recording discharges of babies for adoption and/or fostering from Queen Victoria Medical Centre (VA 1254).

Information recorded includes the mother’s name, baby’s date of birth, date passed, sex of child, and date of discharge, as well as other medical information such as the baby’s weight and medical condition.

Entries are grouped by adoption agency involved, which include Mission of St. James & John, Social Welfare Department, Catholic Family Welfare, Hartnett House, Methodist Babies Home, Jewish Welfare, Community Welfare Services, Department of Child Care and as well as individuals.
