Full description
This series comprises volumes recording proceedings of monthly meetings of the Buildings and Resources Development Committee of Prince Henry's Hospital (VA 441).In October 1980, the Board of Management forwarded to the Health Commission the final Master Plan proposals for updating and upgrading the facilities of the Hospital. These proposals included a new East Wing building; a new services block for modern operating theatres; Central Sterile Services Department and catering facilities; the renovation of existing wards; and improvements to the Outpatients Department.
In December 1980, representatives of Prince Henry's Hospital met with senior figures from the Health Commission to discuss the Master Plan for the Hospital as outlined in the Buildings and Resources Development Programme document.
The Buildings and Resources Development Committee had responsibility for overseeing the program on the Hospital's behalf.
By 1982-83, the Committee had recommended a short-term redevelopment program to relocate some departments in order to provide additional space and a more logical grouping of departments. It looked at providing air conditioning for wards and other patient care areas within the hospital so that, eventually, all wards would have air conditioning. It promoted the redevelopment of Catering services, including an integrated staff cafeteria. The latter objective was achieved during 1984-85.
