Subjects discussed in the meetings included: applications to carry out research, applications for approval, the results of previously approved applications, the control and issue of drugs from the Pharmacy Department, human experimentation guidelines, and animal experimentation. This series comprises volumes recording meeting minutes of the Research Advisory Committee at Prince Henry’s Hospital (previously known as Melbourne Homoeopathic Dispensary 1869-1876; Melbourne Homoeopathic Hospital 1876-1934) (VA 441).

The committee was established along guidelines laid down by the National Health & Medical Research Council. The committee was made up of members from the Board of Management, university staff, clinical medical staff, nursing staff, community interests and lay personnel.
