In 1962, following the issuance of the first annual report in this series, the hospital became affiliated with Monash University and a Professor of Medicine was installed at the hospital. Around 1964-65, the Centre’s research focus was shifted to endocrinology, reproduction, and fertility. Other research subjects included obesity and diabetes. Information contained in the annual reports included, but is not limited to, the names of committee members, staff, foundation corporate members and donors; the reasons for particular research interests; lists of publications and abstracts; and reporting on activities and developments at the Centre during the previous year. Financial reports were also included, except for the years of 1963-1969. Additionally, photographs of buildings, equipment and personnel were included. This series comprises volumes recording annual reports of the Medical Research Centre of Prince Henry’s Hospital (previously known as Melbourne Homoeopathic Dispensary 1869-1876; Melbourne Homoeopathic Hospital 1876-1934) (VA 441).

The original aim of the Medical Research Centre was to conduct research on the occurrence of strokes. In 1962, following the issuance of the first annual report in this series, the hospital became affiliated with Monash University and a Professor of Medicine was installed at the hospital. Around 1964-65, the Centre’s research focus was shifted to endocrinology, reproduction, and fertility. Other research subjects included obesity and diabetes.
