Most of its members were from the clinical areas of the hospital, but there was also Board of Management and administrative representation. This series comprises volumes recording meeting minutes of the Therapeutics Committee of Prince Henry’s Hospital (previously known as Melbourne Homoeopathic Dispensary 1869-1876; Melbourne Homoeopathic Hospital 1876-1934) (VA 441).

The Therapeutics Committee's function was to monitor, assess and review new drugs, drug trials and to receive reports on adverse drug reactions. The committee constantly monitored the hospital's drug expenditure and was responsible for imposing restrictions, as necessary, which maintained the service to patients whilst remaining within the confines of the budget.
