Full description
This record series consists of the minutes of the Accident Clinic Sub-Committee of Prince Henry's Hospital. Much of the content in the minutes concerned financial matters. The Medical Superintendent reported in the hospital's annual report for 1954 that a significant increase in the number of accident cases had been evident during the year and, in particular, road accidents. He added that this category of patients placed a considerable tax on bed accommodation and other facilities. He added in 1955 that there had been a rising percentage of accident cases. This theme was repeated in 1957 and 1958.
Earlier minutes of this Sub-Committee (1953 - 1954) are to be found in Unit 2 of the record series Minutes of Sundry Committees VPRS 19367. The first meeting of the Sub-Committee was held on 9 June 1953. The focus of the Sub-Committee upon its establishment was the request from members of the Honorary Medical Staff for a clinic to be established in the hospital similar to that which existed at the Alfred Hospital.
