Much of the content in the minutes concerned financial matters. The Medical Superintendent reported in the hospital's annual report for 1954 that a significant increase in the number of accident cases had been evident during the year and, in particular, road accidents. He added that this category of patients placed a considerable tax on bed accommodation and other facilities. He added in 1955 that there had been a rising percentage of accident cases. This theme was repeated in 1957 and 1958. Earlier minutes of this Sub-Committee (1953 - 1954) are to be found in Unit 2 of the record series Minutes of Sundry Committees VPRS 19367. The first meeting of the Sub-Committee was held on 9 June 1953. The focus of the Sub-Committee upon its establishment was the request from members of the Honorary Medical Staff for a clinic to be established in the hospital similar to that which existed at the Alfred Hospital.&rft.creator=Prince Henry’s Hospital (previously known as Melbourne Homoeopathic Dispensary 1869-1876; Melbourne Homoeopathic Hospital 1876-1934) &rft.date=2023&rft.coverage=141.000000,-34.000000 142.919336,-34.145604 144.582129,-35.659230 147.742627,-35.873175 150.024219,-37.529041 150.200000,-39.200000 141.000000,-39.200000 141.000000,-34.000000 141.000000,-34.000000&rft_subject=HISTORICAL STUDIES&rft_subject=HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY&rft.type=dataset&rft.language=English Access the data
