Subjects of reports include: Cardiac Surgery, Stroke Services, Private General Practice, Renal Services, Outpatient Services, Neurosciences, Fees for Private Practice, and Trauma Services. Also included is the 1974 report of the review of medical staff structure which resulted in the establishment of three separate Divisions: Medicine, Surgery, and Investigational Medicine. This series comprises reports created by the Senior Medical Staff of the Royal Melbourne Hospital (VA 1048).

The Senior Medical Staff consists of those specialist medical staff with a senior appointment as Head of Unit. Historically these appointments were honorary until the 1970s, and were often called Medical Officers in Charge of Departments or In-Patient Physicians and In-Patient Surgeons.

The reports in this series were compiled by the Senior Medical Staff  and relate to various functional activities and units. Subjects of reports include: Cardiac Surgery, Stroke Services, Private General Practice, Renal Services, Outpatient Services, Neurosciences, Fees for Private Practice, and Trauma Services.
